Other Outlying Area Ranches

The San Miguel River flows West from Telluride and after 37 miles on the Tabeguache/Unaweep Scenic Byway you arrive on Wrights Mesa and the scenic town of Norwood.

The mesa is home to many historic Telluride ranches, which started with the settlement of Wrights mesa by Edwin Joseph in 1879, and led to Norwood's incorporation in 1905.Positioned between the high desert and alpine terrain of Telluride. Norwood's abundance of outdoor opportunities, mild climate and relaxed atmosphere make it one of southwestern Colorado's best kept and most affordable secrets.

Equestrian and agricultural heritages are deeply interwoven in the fabric of life for Norwood's simple residents. Cattle drives and cowboys are still common spring and fall sightings in this ranching community that last July, hosted the largest money rodeo in the Colorado Pro Rodeo Association circuit. The mesa has many large ranch parcels with great views. Water and utilities are sometimes far away, but progress is slowly working it’s way across the mesa. The drive to Telluride is about 45 minutes.

A Telluride Ranch on 35 acres about 4-8 miles out of the small outpost of Norwood are priced as low as $200,000.
